Consultation

Please feel free to contact us if you have any technical issues in promoting synchrotron radiation research and development. Free consultation is always available.

Non-proprietary Research and others

After consultation, if you are willing to publish the results using the equipment registered with ARIM, your proposal will be supported by the ARIM project. After the experiment, you will be asked to answer a questionnaire.
For exclusive use in research and development projects, or for applications other than R&D, Shared-Use Program of JAEA Facilities. For details, please check JAEA's facility usage page(in Japanese).

Call for Research Proposals

To use the equipment registered with ARIM, research proposals must be submitted. Regular call for proposals will be made around May for the second half of the current fiscal year (B term), and around November for the first half of the next fiscal year (A term). Urgent proposals are accepted at any time. Before proposal submission, please discuss your research proposal with the beamline scientists. Contact information of the beamline scientists will be provided by the JAEA Administration Office. Research proposals based on competitive funding will be given priority for beamtime allocation. Non-proprietary research proposals will be reviewed by the JAEA-QST joint proposal review committee, and determined the acceptance of proposals and allocations of beamtime.

Regarding ARIM Usage Reports

Research support under this program requires submission of usage reports. After each fiscal year, you must complete and submit a usage report. These reports are not academic papers but rather "usage reports" documenting your utilization of ARIM's shared facilities. The purpose is to publicly disclose the experiments, measurements, analyses, and other activities conducted using ARIM equipment, along with the results obtained. Include any research achievements achieved through this work to the extent possible. These usage reports will be published on ARIM's open-access website, where they will become publicly viewable, searchable, and downloadable.

※Usage reports will be published the following fiscal year.

Submission of Reports (SPring-8)

After completing the project, please submit a usage report detailing the project’s details by the specified deadline.
SPring-8 reports are published on the UI website two weeks after the 60th day following the end of each period.

Publication of Research Results (SPring-8)

Within three years of the end of the project period, please publish your results in one of the following formats, clearly stating the SPring-8 project number and the ARIM project number, and register them online in the research results database (see the “SPring-8 User Information” section on the website).

1. Peer-reviewed papers (including peer-reviewed proceedings and doctoral dissertations)
2. SPring-8/SACLA Research Results Collection
3. Public technical reports approved by the SPring-8/SACLA Research Results Review Committee

Please submit a “Notification of Research Results Publication” form along with a reprint for any results published in papers or other formats within two years of the end of the project year. (JAEA)
